The Township of Lucan Biddulph, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA), and Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) have partnered to make native trees available and affordable for Lucan Biddulph residents through the Tree Power program. This program originated in London, Ontario 13 years ago and seeks to create a greener and more beautiful community by adding native-species trees.

There will be 225 trees available, all for $25 each. Orders opened online on Wednesday, August 21.

The trees will be available for pick-up on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 12 p.m. noon to 2 p.m. at the Lucan Public Works Building: 34363 Saintsbury Line, Lucan, ON N0M 2J0.

Lucan Biddulph Mayor Cathy Burghardt-Jesson said that:

“Lucan Biddulph is excited to partner with the UTRCA and ABCA for the popular Tree Power Program. This is a new partnership for us, but it is a program that UTRCA has had with municipalities for some time. Everyone involved has experienced great success. We all have a role to play when it comes to improving our tree canopy and our green footprint. The Tree Power Program allows for this to happen. We are thrilled to play a small role in this.”

Rob Davies, UTRCA Forestry and Restoration Supervisor said:

"The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority and Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority are very happy to expand the success of our Tree Power program and partner with Lucan Biddulph Township. It’s a great way to provide residents with affordable trees. We have a diversity of eight species that are well suited to growing in the area. Among their many benefits, these trees provide habitat, while also having the ability to reduce heating and cooling costs."
