Raising Funds to Support our Community

Volunteers and committees, businesses, individual donors, and community service organizations are among the groups and people who help to raise funds for needed community projects, supported by Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation, to preserve and enhance our watershed and its resources.

The Support Your Trail Month in October began during the first week of October which is Ontario Hiking Week.

To support the trail fundraiser, please donate now or visit the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation’s fundraising web page or phone 519-235-2610 or toll-free 1-888-286-2610.

The South Huron and area community is set to celebrate the 20th anniversary, in 2024, of the MacNaughton-Morrison Section of the South Huron Trail.

The support of local community members and local business is helping to support the South Huron Trail.

The Friends of the South Huron Trail, in partnership with a local grocery store, is hosting a 2023 Round-Up-at-the-Till campaign for the trail.

Starting on Thursday, October 12, 2023 and continuing until October 18, 2023, people can support the trail by rounding up their bill at the till at Hansen’s Your Independent Grocer Exeter. For instance, if you are making a purchase for $16, you could choose to round up to $20. The difference will be donated to the trail.

“I would like to thank Hansen’s Your Independent Grocer Exeter for making it easy for people to donate to the trail,” said Tim Cumming, Communications Specialist with Ausable Bayfield Conservation. “I would also like to thank the Friends of the South Huron Trail volunteers and all the people in the community who support the South Huron Trail and other local trails through their donations.”

The Friends of the South Huron Trail hosted a special trail event, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, to kick off the week of activities in support of the trail. Friends of the South Huron Trail volunteers were along the trail on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A golf tournament fundraiser was held for 15 years, between 2005 and 2021, by community members to support the trail. That golf fundraising event raised more than $67,000, over its history, for the trail. The golf tournament is no longer taking place so a new fundraiser is needed to support the trail. The donate-at-the-till initiative is one way to raise the funds that are needed.

During the first week of October, Hike Ontario sponsors Ontario Hiking Week as a chance to enjoy nature. This annual province-wide event offers a wide variety of trails for hikers of all ages and levels of skill.

South Huron Trail Golf Tournament

For many years, the South Huron Trail Golf Tournament was held, thanks to community volunteers, as a charitable fundraiser in support of the South Huron Trail.

When the golf tournament was active, it helped to raise more than $67,000 towards trail improvements and maintenance.

Thanks go to sponsors, donors and community volunteers who made it possible for the tournament to support the popular trail’s health, social, environmental, and recreational benefits.

Help support new fundraising activities

Although the golf tourney is no longer taking place, we still need to raise funds for projects including the South Huron Trail.
