Conservation Dinner Committee selects Larry Taylor, Jim Beckett as Co-Chairs of 29th charitable event
Committee announces that April 12, 2018 is date for 29th Conservation Dinner
The Conservation Dinner Committee has selected Larry Taylor and Jim Beckett as Co-Chairs of the 2018 gala charitable auction event to be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018. The two volunteers said they were honoured to be chosen.
“I think the Conservation Dinner community partnership, that has continued successfully for almost three decades, is very commendable,” said Taylor. “I’m honoured to be a Co-Chair of such a positive community event.”
The 2017 Dinner raised more than $60,000 in net proceeds for projects in local communities. “This is such a community-minded group,” said Beckett, in reference to the Conservation Dinner Committee. “The committee has built a strong foundation of success going back to 1990 and I look forward to helping make the 29th Conservation Dinner a success in support of local projects.”
The 2018 Conservation Dinner takes place at South Huron Recreation Centre, 94 Victoria Street East, Exeter, Ontario. Tickets are $75 each. Ticket purchasers receive a charitable receipt for income tax purposes for a portion of that amount. To buy a ticket or to donate to the Conservation Dinner, visit the Ausable Bayfield Conservation office east of Exeter at 71108 Morrison Line (just south of Highway 83) or phone 519-235-2610 or toll-free 1-888-286-2610 or email info@conservationdinner.com.
Donors, patrons and guests, local businesses, artists, and volunteers have helped this charitable event raise more than $1.1 million over the past 28 years for community projects. The Conservation Dinner has been a success in supporting local projects throughout communities of the Ausable Bayfield watersheds in an area stretching from Port Franks, Thedford, and Arkona and area in the south; to Clinton, Bayfield, and Seaforth and area in the north; and all the communities in between.
This dinner and auction was started in 1990 and the Exeter Lions Club joined as co-partner in 1991. The net profits are split 50-50 between community conservation projects of the Foundation throughout the watershed and community conservation projects of the Exeter Lions Club. The 2018 Dinner will raise funds for community projects such as parks and accessible trails, commemorative woods, the Jones Bridge pedestrian bridge project on the South Huron Trail, and outdoor nature education and recreation in local communities.
The annual charitable gala features live and silent auctions of art and other distinctive items including travel packages and sports and entertainment memorabilia. The event also includes special raffles, general raffles, appetizers, wine tasting, fun and fellowship, and a wonderful meal.
Celebrities from the world of business, entertainment, sports, journalism, and science have served as emcees and special guests and some of the area’s finest artists – in media such as metal, ice and wood sculpture and fine art and culinary arts – have been featured at the auction and dinner event.
