Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) issues advisory notice reminding people golf carts, motorized vehicles are not permitted on trails, conservation areas

Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) reminds trail users that that all motorized vehicles and carts, whether electric powered or gas powered, are prohibited on all properties owned and/or maintained by the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority, including MacNaughton-Morrison Trail and the Morrison Dam Conservation Area trail.
This prohibition includes golf carts, e-bikes, quads, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and off-road bikes – which are all forbidden.

“The vast majority of trail users are protecting the safety of other trail users and are following the rules but we have had reports that a few individuals have broken trail rules by using golf carts and e-bikes on the South Huron Trail,” said Kate Monk, Manager of Stewardship, Land and Education for ABCA. “We are issuing this public notice to remind people of the rules,” she said. “It is trespassing to use the trails in ways that are not permitted and people may receive fines and be denied future trail access as a result of these contraventions.”

ABCA patrol officers, and other staff members, have authority, under the Trespass to Property Act (RSO 1990) and the Conservation Authorities Act, in regards to fines and restricting access to the trails when rules are not followed.

The South Huron Trail Mobile is permitted on the trail as are emergency vehicles and ABCA vehicles required for Ausable Bayfield Conservation use to maintain the trails.
