Avoid conservation areas during high water

Recent rainfall events have caused flooding across the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) watershed, including many of ABCA’s conservation areas that are open to the public.

ABCA recommends avoiding these conservation areas during high-water events and reminds users to use caution near all watercourses as slippery and unstable streambanks, and fast-flowing water, combine to create hazardous conditions.

As water levels and flooding recedes, property inspections and necessary trail repair work will be completed by ABCA staff. Repair work is expected to begin early next week.
